Foam Rolling: The Tragic Hero of Muscle Recovery?

So I was daydreaming about this idea earlier: if muscle recovery had its own theatrical production, would foam rolling play the tragic hero? It seems like it’s always there, pushing you through the pain for a greater payoff, but sometimes it feels like it’s fighting a losing battle against soreness. What do you think does foam rolling deserve a standing ovation, or is it more of a love-hate relationship for you?
