Exploring the Sensory Side of Luxury: Temperature as a Metaphor

Lately, I’ve been fascinated by how we experience luxury through our senses. The idea of assigning a temperature to it whether it’s the cool touch of a diamond or the warm embrace of aged whiskey got me thinking. How do you perceive luxury in sensory terms? Is it something sharp and refined, or smooth and lingering?

As an executive coach, I often work with clients on presence and perception, and this feels like an extension of that. Maybe it’s the actor in me, but I love how tactile and vivid these comparisons are. Curious to hear your take do you lean toward one or the other, or is luxury something entirely different for you?

Luxury, to me, is the weight of a well-bound book textured, deliberate, and resonant with quiet depth. It lingers in the mind as much as the senses.

Oh, how fascinating that luxury is just about touching diamonds and sipping whiskey. Some of us find luxury in not having to listen to pretentious metaphors.

LOL right?! Luxury is totally subjective give me cozy PJs and a good book over diamonds any day!

Couldn’t agree more! PJs, a book, and zero stress now that’s real luxury. Diamonds can’t compete with that kind of comfort!

Ugh, diamonds are so mainstream. A well-worn first edition and ethically-sourced organic cotton pajamas? Now that’s true luxury.
