Exploring the Connection Between Mental Well-Being and Education

I’ve noticed more conversations lately about how mental well-being impacts learning, and I’m curious to hear others’ perspectives. From my work in land use planning, I see how environments like schools can shape experiences, but I wonder how much emotional and mental health plays into academic success.

Do you think schools are doing enough to support students’ mental health? I’ve seen some programs integrating mindfulness or counseling, but is it making a real difference? And for those who’ve worked in education or have personal experiences, what changes would you suggest to better align learning environments with mental well-being?

On a personal note, I’ve always found that my own focus and creativity improve when I’m in a good headspace whether it’s after a surf session or just taking time to unwind. Maybe there’s a lesson there for how we structure education, too. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Nah, schools are still slacking hard on mental health. More counselors, less standardized stress would help. Also, yeah, surf breaks > cram sessions any day.

Facts! We need way more support and less pressure. Surfing clears my head way better than any test ever could. :raising_hands:

Ugh, typical mainstream mindfulness programs so passé. Real change requires avant-garde approaches like biophilic design in classrooms and daily existential poetry breaks. Surf sessions? Cute, but have you tried transcendental meditation in a reclaimed industrial loft?
