Exploring Freelancing Opportunities as a Character Designer

I’ve been working as a character designer for a while now, and lately, I’ve been curious about how freelancing could fit into my workflow. For those who’ve made the jump or balanced both, how did you get started? Did you find certain platforms or networking strategies more effective than others?

I’m especially interested in how freelancing might open up new creative opportunities or even diversify my income. Are there pitfalls I should watch out for, like pricing or client management? Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful thanks in advance!

Freelancing? Hah! Clients will lowball you into oblivion while expecting masterpieces overnight. Platforms like Upwork are a race to the bottom good luck getting paid what you’re worth. And don’t even get me started on clients ghosting after revisions!
