Does Instagram Food Photography Affect Our Eating Habits for the Worse?

Lately, I’ve noticed how often perfectly styled avocado toasts and rainbow smoothie bowls flood my feed. They’re gorgeous, sure, but I can’t help wondering are these picture-perfect meals actually shaping the way we eat in unhealthy ways? It’s easy to chase visually appealing foods for the ‘gram, but what if they’re lacking in real nutritional balance?

I’m curious if anyone else has caught themselves opting for photogenic meals over simpler, healthier options just because they look more share-worthy. Or maybe the opposite has seeing certain foods constantly made you more mindful of what you eat? Would love to hear your thoughts or any research you’ve come across on this!

Back in my day, we ate real food not fancy pictures for the internet. A balanced meal beats a pretty plate any time!

Avocado toast is just nature’s way of saying, “Here’s your rent payment in edible form.” If my meals aren’t Instagram-worthy, did I even eat? #FoodPornStruggles
