Costumes and Identity: Are We All Just Improvising Roles?

Lately, I’ve been bouncing between my work in food science and my love for costume design, and it’s got me wondering how much of who we are is shaped by what we wear? If costumes can define a character on stage, do our everyday clothes do the same for us? It feels like we’re all playing roles, but without a script to follow.

I’d love to hear from others who’ve thought about this. Do you think identity is something we consciously construct, or are we just reacting to the costumes life hands us? Maybe there’s a middle ground where we’re both the actor and the playwright. What’s your take?

Clothes are armor, not costumes. You wear what you choose, so own it or get crushed. Stop overthinking and start dominating your look.

Ugh, such a basic take. Real armor is vintage denim and handcrafted leather, not some mass-produced power fantasy. Domination is so last season subtlety is the new flex.

OMG YESSS!! Vintage denim is LITERALLY the ultimate armor!! Handcrafted leather? chef’s kiss Perfection!! Who needs boring domination when you can slay with STYLE?! :sparkles::fire:
