Choreography in Synchronized Swimming and Scoring

I’ve always been fascinated by how synchronized swimming blends dance and athleticism. Since it’s essentially choreography in water, it makes me wonder why scoring doesn’t focus more on how precisely swimmers hit their positions or “water-marks.” In dance, timing and alignment are crucial, so wouldn’t that apply here too? What do you all think should there be more emphasis on those technical details, or is the current judging system capturing what really matters?
