Cars as Symbols of Resistance and Empowerment in Social Movements

I’ve been curious about how cars have played a role in social movements, especially as symbols of resistance or empowerment. It’s fascinating how something as everyday as a car can take on such powerful meaning. For example, I’ve heard about the Lowriders in the Chicano movement, where customized cars became a way to express cultural pride and push back against marginalization. Or the way the Freedom Riders used buses (and cars) to challenge segregation in the U.S. during the Civil Rights Movement. Does anyone know of other examples where cars have been used in similar ways? I’d love to hear more stories or insights!
