Can discipline be romanticized as a form of self-love, or does it always feel like a sacrifice?

Can Discipline Feel Like Self-Love, or Just a Chore?

Lately, I’ve been wrestling with this idea of discipline specifically, whether it can ever feel like an act of self-love rather than something we force ourselves to do. On one hand, sticking to routines (whether it’s fitness, work, or even downtime) can build resilience and long-term satisfaction. But on the other, it’s easy to fall into the trap of seeing discipline as pure deprivation, like we’re always saying “no” to ourselves.

I’m curious how others navigate this balance. Do you have tricks to reframe discipline as something nurturing rather than restrictive? Or does it always feel like a grind, no matter how you spin it? Maybe it’s about the small rewards, or the way you structure your goals? Would love to hear how you make it work.
