Budgeting Tips for a Distiller Balancing Passion and Practicality

Running a small distillery while teaching essential oil making keeps me busy, but I’ll admit keeping track of expenses and profits isn’t my strong suit. Between sourcing botanicals, equipment upkeep, and occasional adventures that inspire new blends, the financial side can get messy.

For fellow distillers or crafters, how do you stay on top of budgeting without sucking the joy out of the process? Do you set aside a fixed amount for experimental batches, or track every penny? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you, especially if you’ve found ways to balance creativity with financial discipline. Any tools or methods that made a difference?

(Also, if anyone’s tackled this while juggling a side hustle or travel, bonus points I’m all ears!)
