Balancing Discipline and Motivation in Fitness – Any Tips?

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how discipline and motivation interact, especially when it comes to sticking with a fitness routine. Some days, the drive is there naturally, but other times, it feels like pulling teeth just to get moving. How do you all keep that balance?

I’m especially curious about the role of small, consistent habits versus big, dramatic shifts. Does focusing on tiny wins work better for you, or do you thrive on bigger challenges? And for those who’ve hit a plateau how do you reignite that spark without burning out?

Since I work with animals (and their owners) in physiotherapy, I’ve seen how routine and adaptability play out in different ways. Maybe there’s something to learn from contrasting approaches. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Small steps work better for me. Big changes feel overwhelming. Watching animals stick to routines helps me stay consistent too.
